Finished my heat treating. Here’s a few photos – blades were placed in a custom built cage and wrapped in a nickle/titanium pouch. This step was taken to ensure the blades were protected from oxidization in the ovens that runs up to 1975 degrees F for ATS-34 stainless steel. The laboratory process controller ensured the ovens maintained the perfect temperatures during firing. After being removed from the oven and unwrapped, the blades were quickly cooled and tested to ensure a Rockwell hardness of 60-61. Now I can remove the oxide residue and start the glue up of the handles for W18, W19 and W20 this week.
