It usually takes a day or so to decide and draw up a filework pattern, then make a prototype before starting work on the actual blade. Why do I take the extra time to add filework to my knives? Not only to add character and personality to each blade, but to add functionality as well for people who choke up on the blade with a thumb or index finger on the spine – it gives you added grip for comfort and safety from slippage. I like the way the pattern for W22 turned out – gives the blade a spirit – can’t wait to heat treat it and glue it up!
